Holding Both: Business Owner & Mom

Some mornings I unlock the window, turn on the lights, and pour the first cup of coffee while my heart is already somewhere else.

I’m thinking about my kids.

Who has practice today.

Who needs extra encouragement.

Who I hugged a little longer before we left the house.

Running a small business isn’t just a job — it’s a calling that asks a lot. And parenting? That’s a calling that asks for everything. Most days, I’m learning how to hold both without dropping either one.

There’s a version of success the world likes to paint — hustle harder, stay open longer, never slow down. But real life doesn’t always fit neatly into business hours. Sometimes it looks like adjusting schedules because of ball games, school events, or simply choosing to show up where it matters most.

And I’ve learned something along the way: success doesn’t always look like more. Sometimes it looks like faithful.

Faithful to open the doors even when it’s hard.

Faithful to close them when family needs me more.

Faithful to trust that God sees the quiet obedience no one else does.

This season has stretched me. It’s asked me to be flexible, honest, and humble. There are days I feel behind, tired, or unsure — and days I feel deeply thankful for a community that shows up, supports local, and understands that this little coffee stand is run by a real person with real responsibilities.

If you’ve ever felt pulled in two directions — business and family, work and home, dreams and duty — you’re not alone. You’re not failing. You’re living.

Next week, we’ll be back to our normal schedule. And today, I’ll close up a little early so I can cheer from the bleachers and watch my kids do what they love. That matters to me. And I believe it matters to God too.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for grace, patience, and kindness. And thank you for supporting small — not just with your dollars, but with your understanding.

Coffee will always be here.

These moments won’t.
